LsL Instruments at The B Side:
Before LsL existed, Lance Lerman was deeply involved in the world of instruments. In the late ’70s, he taught banjo and repaired guitars in Berkeley, California. That early connection to music remained with him, even as life took him in different directions.
For years, Lance made high-end furniture. He started in California and later managed large-scale manufacturing in China. But the guitar continued to call him back. In 2007, he returned to California, to a garage shared with his wife Lisa, and to the kind of craft that speaks directly to the soul.
When he couldn’t find a ‘50s-style T-style guitar that truly felt alive, he chose to build his own. That first guitar, the T Bone, resonated with the vintage community and marked the start of LsL Guitars, a brand focused on feel, tone, and honest craftsmanship.
Today, each LsL guitar is still made by one craftsperson from beginning to end. Hand-carved necks, hand-wound pickups no shortcuts and no serial numbers, only names.
